Every stone tells a story and Yvonne Gillis thinks that's a beautiful thing. Her passion? To extract an unseemly chip of rock from deep within its crystalline vault, cut it, polish it, set it and allow its beauty to speak volumes about the Earth's ancient history. Her mission? To find the most uniquely beautiful stones she possibly can and fashion them into wearable art. Her selection of jewelry pieces is absolutely mesmerizing.
After earning her graduate degree in gemology from the Gemological Institute of America (GIA) in New York, Yvonne broadened her knowledge of jewelry with an internship at Sotheby's. Born with an eye for shape, color and texture, it was the fortuitous combination of her formal gemological studies, her early education in fashion merchandising, and later, a chance meeting with a Brazilian mine owner and master gem cutter that led to a career in jewelry design. Yvonne is a member of the GIA Alumni Association, The South Carolina Jeweler's Association and other mineralogical societies.
