"It the village of Périgny sur Armançon next to my village. The river is called Armançon. This view shows the village of 13th century with its bridge. The church is from the 11 century. The bridge was very important as in medieval times it was part of the fortifications also a tax was due to enter the village at the gate of the bridge. I painted this view on a warm evening in July the heavy air of summer creates some beautiful colors. I painted it in 4 sessions looking for the same light effect. I like those old villages because people live in it and continue its history." -- Antonin Passemard
