"Evening Gathering of Red" is a medium size horizontal original oil painting on canvas by American artist, Isaiah Ratterman. Measuring 18 x 24 inches is framed in a gold floater frame measuring 29 x 35 x 2 inches. This heavily monochromatic teal painting of a lily pod is dotted with wisps of little red koi swimming about. The artist has carefully changed the tones of teals to give the allure of shadows cast upon the water by overhanging trees while overcast sunlight filters through. Isaiah Ratterman is an award winning artist and received his MFA from the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts. He lives and works in Denver, Colorado, where his life is immersed in art, both in his studio practice and teaching fine arts at the Rocky Mountain College of Art and Design and Red Rocks. He has shown across the United States as well as internationally. Zaya, as he signs his work, is a shorthand moniker of his name, Isaiah, given to him by his family.
"My work is a reflection of experiences I hold close and acts as a means for deciphering them. This inspiration could be derived from immersive journeys in the landscape, or hidden moments that reveal themselves in unexpected ways. There is an intangible truth to be found in our everyday existence, and through my work, I hope to touch upon it." -- Isaiah Ratterman
